Update on Provisional Exam for Food Safety Auditor & Specialist Certification Competency Program
TO ALL PROVISIONAL EXAM APPLICANTS
English Language Proficiency is a requirement for participation in all CFSI programs and courses.
Who's Eligible to write a Provisional Exam?
. 5 years experience in Supervisory, Middle & Senior Management in the Food Industry
. 5 years Food Safety or Quality System Auditing with minimum 300 hours auditing.
5 years Supervisory position in the Food Plant
. 5 years in Food Lab or Food Micro Lab experience in food plant
. 5 years Environmental System Auditing with minimum 300 hours auditing &
minimum of Level1 years in the food plant
. Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate in Science, Food or Agricultural Science
REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION FOR PROVISIONAL EXAM
. Submit your credentials CFSI for assessment
. Obtain approval from CFSI to write the Provisional Exam
. Pay required $1,500.00 plus Applicable Taxes
. Obtain confirmation of exam date, location and time from CFSI
Provisional Exams are held three to four time a year on-site in selected provinces or on-line. The Fee for the National Provisional Exam is $1,500.00 CAN plus applicable tax.
NOTE: In order to receive your full Food Safety Certification Competency Certificate, in addition to successful completion of the Provisional exam, you must complete the required 200 hours industry On-site Competency Assessment.

What you need for acceptance to the program
Minimum requirements for this program are
i) College Diploma with two (2) years in the food industry.
ii) Applicants with more than five (5) years in progressive positions in the food industry are assessed based on performance on the Program Entry Course.
iii) If you have Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D degree. in any of the Food or Environmental Sciences field, you may apply for the advance credits after you have submitted your transcripts to CFSI board. However, you are required to take the Food Safety Level1 Program Entry Certificate course before the assessment of your request for advance credits. Job prospects are based on the results of your performance at the final exam and field placement.
All student have to take the Program Entry Food Safety, Level1 and pass at 70% or above and move unto the Core Program Schemes which consist of eight courses which they must pass at 70% or above.
The Food Safety Specialist Program is a 10-week Online plus 5 weeks field placement program. However, you need to take and pass the Program Entry Food Safety Level1 Certificate Course ($750.00 CAN) at 70% or above, before qualifying for the Core program Courses. The Complete Core Certification competence Program consists of eight (8) courses plus 200 hours Field Placement in your province.
What you require to obtain a CFSI Food Safety Certification competence Recognition
Can be completed in three (3) Steps:
Step 1: Take and pass the Food Safety Level provisional Course at 70% or above
Step 2: Take and pass the eight (8) core (BoK) required courses and pass at 70% or above (Takes approx. 10 weeks with minimum Level1 hrs. per day on assignments)
Step 3: Complete the required 200 hours or five (5) weeks food industry competence Assessment (BoC) or Field Placement.
Current Food Safety Certification competence Areas
All of our Food Safety Specialists, Auditors or Technicians have to be trained and certified by our institute. Some of our current students hold Master’s and Ph.D. in various areas of Food Science. They are taking our programs to obtain the Food Safety Certification.

2. 8 Core Program Courses: $3,600.00 ($450 x 8 Courses)

5. Final Exam. Fee: $250.00 ( Exam Proctors & Graders)

*Online courses and programs are offered on a continuous basis throughout the year. However, Online student are expected to complete the Online segment in minimum of 10 weeks. However must complete allrequired online courses
* You can now complete the program on a pay-per-course basis. That is, you pay for the next course after you complete the previous one.
